A Cayman Islands' Delight: Wake up to views of Seven Mile Beach or the North Sound

Opening this month: The Residences at Seafire on Grand Cayman Island,We’ve been following the Dart Real Estate (neé Dart Realty) project (so easy to access via direct flight from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport) since its inception – luxury residences affiliated with the Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa on Grand Cayman Island, which offers homeowners unlimited access to all the amenities and services of the AAA Five Diamond-rated resort property: three signature restaurants, an 8,500-square-foot spa, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and, of course, a spectacular beachfront on famed Seven Mile Beach on the western shore of Grand Cayman Island.

Overall Design

Developers tapped Martyn Lawrence Bullard, interior designer to such celebrities as the Kardashian families, to create the resort’s signature spaces. Bullard’s glamorous design aesthetic is evident in the entrance which says “welcome” in a dramatic way with natural stone walls that mimic the Seven Mile Beach shoreline; clean, mid-century modern furniture, and artworks in colors of the Caribbean.

“The Nest,” the Cayman’s highest point and its only rooftop lounge, is a Bullard-designed 3,500-square-foot rooftop terrace with lounge pits, cocktail areas, and a 360-degree view of the Caribbean Sea and North Sound.

Sustainability

San Francisco-based SB Architects and Guerin Glass Architects collaborated in the project’s engineering design. EDSA is responsible for its landscape architecture. The project earns high marks for its sustainability karma – it’s the first LEED ® Silver-certified large-scale residential property in Cayman. Electric car charging stations, solar power generation stations, and geothermal cooling aid in reducing residents’ green footprint. Outdoor lighting facing the beach is “turtle-friendly,” designed to prevent turtles from confusing artificial light with the moonlight that directs them toward the sea.

Adding to this, Dart Real Estate recently announced the acquisition of The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman, a neighboring property of The Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa and Camana Bay, Dart Real Estate’s flagship property. The acquisition bodes well for the continuing development of the walkability of the area, in tune with the principles of New Urbanism.
